Back to Q&A

I want to eat more fish, but am concerned about high mercury levels. What should I do?

Fish oils contain essential Omega 3 oils that are healthy for the heart, but fish also can contain mercury. Methyl mercury can be harmful to brain cells and the nervous system, so it is best to choose fish with low amounts of mercury, like salmon, sardines, oysters, sea bass, freshwater trout, perch, king crab, pollack, flounder, sole, scallops, shrimp, clams and tilapia.
