How to Cleanse and Detox Your Body of Heavy Metals

Why Cleanse?

Our modern foods often contain too much sugar, fats and chemicals. This has caused an increase in obesity among children as well as the increase brain conditions like ADHD, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. 

Cleansing is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health. Cleansing helps your body eliminate toxins from your major organs, like your colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and even your skin. By removing or eliminating these toxins and chemicals and then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, cleansing can help recover from an illness faster and protect you from disease.

Your liver is the organ that does the majority of your detoxification but it does not alway shave the ability to keep your body clean. The liver gets overloaded in our modern, chemical age, so it doesn't always have the time or energy to focus on keeping your body clean. When your liver is overworked or overloaded, your body stores the toxins in your body fat.

Thousands of chemicals are added to food and over 700 have been identified in just our drinking water. Plants are sprayed with toxic chemicals, animals are injected with potent hormones and antibiotics and a significant amount of our food is genetically engineered, processed, refined, frozen and cooked.

It is difficult for the liver to stay healthy after decades of exposure to pesticides, heavy metals, chemicals, and air pollution It just can't keep up with its heavy workload. It can't heal itself and regenerate, so it starts to deteriorate and shrink. If the liver is unable to carry out its full function, not only does it become congested and weak; all other organs are more challenged.

As a result, you age faster. You begin to feel tired all the time because your liver can't convert glucose to energy as quickly as before. You may start gaining more weight around the waistline, and see more cellulite, as your liver is clogged with fat deposits. You will porobably even feel your sex drive decrease as your sex hormones fall out of balance.

This is why cleansing is especially important for your liver. When you cleanse, you purge all of the fats, old cholesterol deposits, gallstones, poisons, drug residues, and toxic waste stored inside your liver. Many agree with me that annual cleansing is the missing link to disease prevention.


What Heavy Metal Poisoning Feels Like

It usually takes awhile for heavy metals to build up in your body. Although I experienced heavy metal poisoning immediately after I had old mercury fillings removed from some teeth in my mouth. Once your body reaches its tipping point, the effects of heavy metal poisoning can come on rather quickly. These include:

- Nausea and vomiting
- Sinus congestions, itchy eyes and throat
- Joint pain, stiffness and loss of flexibility
- Migraines and headaches
- Memory loss and trouble recalling names or finding the right words
- Insomnia or poor sleep patterns
- Overall loss of energy and stamina

Many detox methods can make you even sicker. Toxins are stored in fat, so they can't dissolve in water, making it very difficult for your body to eliminate them. When you begin to detoxify your body, the toxins leave your fat cells and enter your bloodstream. As they travel through the blood, they can pass your vital organs and cause all sorts of unwanted side effects too.

To stay healthy and gretaly reduce the the build up of heavy metals in your body, you should do an annual cleanse. This will help reduce any side effects that heavy metals cause to your system because you are proactively removing them every year. 


Foods to Choose

Besides an annual cleanse, there are certain foods you can eat to help your liver work better all the time. These foods also boost your metabolism, and strengthn your immune system to further fight off sickness and disease.

Artichokes
Artichokes help the liver function at its best, which in turn will help your body purge itself of toxins and other things it doesn’t need to survive. It ups the liver’s production of bile, and since bile helps break down foods which helps your body use the nutrients inside them, an increase in bile production is typically a good thing.

Apples
Apples are full of wonderful nutrients. You get fiber, vitamins, minerals and many beneficial phytochemicals such as D-Glucarate, flavonoids and terpenoids. All of these substances are used in the detox process. One flavonoid, Phlorizidin (phlorizin), is thought to help stimulate bile production which helps with detox as the liver gets rid of some toxins through the bile. Apples are also a good source of the soluble fiber pectin, which can help detox metals and food additives from your body. It's best to eat only organic apples as the non-organic varieties are among the top 12 foods that have been found to contain the most pesticide residues.

Almonds
Almonds are the best nut source of Vitamin E. In fact, just one ounce contains 7.3 mg of "alpha-tocopherol" vitamin E, the form of the vitamin the body prefers. They're also high in fiber, calcium, magnesium, and useable protein that helps stabilize blood sugar and remove impurities from the bowels.

Basil
Basil has anti-bacterial properties, and it’s full of antioxidants to protect the liver. The active ingredients are terpenoids. It is also wonderful for digestion and detoxification, too. It supports the functioning of the kidneys and also acts as a diuretic to help the body expel unwanted toxins. Basil has been known to have anti-ulcer qualities as well as antimicrobial effects that guard against bacteria, yeast, fungi and mold. Basil seed can also help with constipation.

Beets
Beets contain a unique mixture of natural plant chemicals (phytochemicals) and minerals that make them superb fighters of infection, blood purifiers, and liver cleansers. They also help boost the body’s cellular intake of oxygen, making beets excellent overall body cleansers. When you’re detoxing, beets will help by making sure that the toxins you’re getting out actually make it out of your body.

Brazil Nuts
Brazil Nuts are packed with selenium, which is key to flushing mercury out of your body. The body uses selenium to make ‘selenoproteins’, which work like antioxidants preventing damage to cells and there is growing body of evidence to show it has a key role in our health.

Broccoli
Broccoli specifically works with the enzymes in your liver to turn toxins into something your body can eliminate easily. If you’re stuck for ways on how to make broccoli taste better try dehydrating or consider eating it raw. But don’t microwave it as this destroys both the nutritional and detox potential.

Cabbage
In addition to cleansing your liver, cabbage will also aid in helping you go to the bathroom, which in turn helps you expel the toxins, getting them out of your system so you can start fresh. It contains sulfur, which is essential when it comes to breaking down chemicals and removing them from your body. Cabbage is a source of indole-3-carbinol, a chemical that boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells.

Cilantro
Cilantro, also known as coriander, Chinese parsley or dhania, contains an abundance of antioxidants. Cilantro helps mobilize mercury and other metals out of the tissue so it can attach to it other compounds and allow it to be excreted from the body. It also contains an antibacterial compound called dodecenal, which laboratory tests showed is twice as effective as the commonly used antibiotic drug gentamicin at killing Salmonella.

Cranberries
While they are more popular as fruits that help prevent urinary tract infections, cranberries are antibacterial and are known to remove many different toxins from your body. Cranberries feature a rich profile of anti-inflammatory nutrients, provide immune and cardiovascular support, as well as promote digestive health.

Flaxseeds
When detoxifying your body, it's essential to ensure toxins are eliminated properly. Ground flaxseeds provide a wonderful source of fibre that helps to bind and flush toxins from the intestinal tract. They're also a great source of health promoting omega 3 oils. Men should be cautious when consuming flax as the lignans are similar to the female hormone estrogen as can cause problems for some men.

Garlic
Many detox diets list garlic as a crucial piece of the puzzle. The reason is that garlic boosts the immune system as well as helping out the liver. One good thing about garlic is that you can up your intake without having to worry if your body is going to get used to it or build up a resistance. Sulfur is found in high quantities in garlic -- which makes it a good detox food and its antibiotic properties heal your body.

Kale
It's become so popular lately and rightfully so. Kale, and other fresh, leafy greens are a good source of glutathione. These types of vegetables are also an excellent source of insoluble fiber, which gets the gut moving.

Seaweed
Seaweed
 is full of essential vitamins and trace minerals. Research has shown that seaweed binds to heavy metals and radioactive waste in the body to help eliminate them from the body. 

Watercress
Watercress is easy top add to salads or sandwiches. It has been shown to increase detoxification enzymes and fight cancer cells in the body. In a study at the Norwich Food Research Centre in the United Kingdom, smokers who were given 170 grams of watercress per day eliminated higher than average amounts of carcinogens in their urine, thereby eliminating them from their body. 

Yogurt
I am talking the good stuff. The yogurt that contains probiotics and supplies healthy bacteria to the GI tract's natural flora. Bravo Probiotic Yogurt contains 42 strains of probiotic bacteria that have been proven to produce the essential protein, GcMAF. This specific protein is necessary for Vitamin D to work in the body. 


How To Cleanse

Simple Liver Cleanse
I usually suggest everyone do a liver cleanse once a year to flush the toxins that build up in the liver. During this cleanse, you can drink as much filtered water and lemonade mixture as you wish. This liver cleanse can be done for 3-7 days. Try 3 days your first time.

Lemonade Mixture Recipe
2 cups of fresh lemon, lime juice or both
14 cups of filtered water
1 teaspoon of powdered stevia or 10 drops of liquid stevia
2 tsps. celtic salt
Store in refrigerator for use during your cleanse

The day that you start the liver cleanse, avoid eating any meat or dairy. Besides the lemon drink above, drink lots of apple juice during the liver cleanse because it can help soften stones.

Start the first day of your liver cleanse by heating 8-10 ounces of the lemonade, just to room temp. and stirring in 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil into it. I melt coconut oil by placing the oil in a container and then putting that in a basin of boiled water. Drink this mixture every 2 hours. Eat lightly during the day (avoiding meat and dairy) and continue drinking the lemonade throughout the day.

At 2 pm, begin fasting (you can drink water)
At 6 pm, mix 4 tablespoons of epsom salts in 3 cups of filtered water and keep in a jar. This makes 4 servings. Drink your first glass.
At 8 pm, drink your 2nd glass of epsom salts.
If you have not had a bowel movement by 9:30 pm, a water enema may help get things moving.
At 9:45 pm, squeeze enough fresh organic grapefruit to make 1 cup of juice (remove the pulp). Pour the juice and 1/4 cup of olive oil into a jar and shake vigorously. Drink the mixture by 10PM (within 10 minutes of making it).
By 10 pm and as soon as the drink is gone, lie down on your right side with your knees up to your chest and try to go to sleep. At least try to keep still for at least 20 minutes.

By 7 am the next morning, drink another glass of the epsom salts mixture. You can expect diarrhea.
At 9 am, drink your final glass of epsom salts
At 11 am, you can drink some freshly pressed fruit juice. Wait 30 minutes later and you can start eating food again, starting with fruit and vegetables first. 


Full Body Cleanse
The program below can help detoxify the body even further than my suggested liver cleanse above.  I have listed the best, optimal supplementation you could choose to bump up the impact of your cleanse. However, I understand it may be too many supplements for some people, so you can select which supporting supplements work best for you.

1. Avoid all juices and soft drinks, junk foods, simple carbohydrates, starches or breads.

2. For five days, limit your diet to one meal a day and for the other two meals, use the Mars Venus Super Foods Shake as a meal replacement. 

3. Make this special Super Cleanse Drink and drink 20 minutes before your morning Mars Venus Super Foods Shake.
Mix together the following ingredients:
• One teaspoon of the Mars Venus Super Cleanse
• One teaspoon of Probiotics
• One scoop of Collagen Peptides

4. Take one-half teaspoon of Liposomal Vitamin C twice daily. 

5. Take two capsules of Grape Seed Extract twice daily.

6. Take two Super Minerals twice daily (ionic trace minerals and mineral orotates). This dosage can be doubled if you are feeling stressed or the results are not noticed within a couple of days.

7. Take one tablet of Omega-3 twice daily. A powerful liquid source of Omega-3 for children who don’t take capsules is Liposomal DHA.

8. Take one multivitamin twice daily.

9. Take one time-released multi-B vitamin.

10. Take one digestive enzyme 10-20 minutes before your morning Super Foods Shake and before each meal.

11. Take one capsule of 2-AEP Membrane Complex 10-20 minutes before each meal to repair cell membranes and balance blood sugar.

12. Take one capsules of Phosphatidylserine (PS) 10-20 minutes before each meal to support the fluidity of cell membranes.

13. After the first five days, begin a special two-day cleansing fast. Stop all solid foods and the Mars Venus Super Foods Shake. Enjoy the Super Cleanse Drink and 8 ounces of water for breakfast, lunch, snack in afternoon and dinner. Continue taking the supplements listed from #4 - #12.

14. Repeat this cycle for as long as necessary. On fasting days, drink at least an additional 4-6 glasses of purified water. As long as you have any extra weight, you can continue this program. Although it is mostly a liquid diet, you will get all the nutrition you require for optimal health.

15. Take Zeolites first thing in the morning and before bed daily for two months. This detoxifying mineral extract from volcanic rocks helps cleanse the brain of heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides and insecticides.
