Vitamin B12 is crucial to the formation of healthy red blood cells, energy production, nervous system support, cognitive function, and homo-cysteine regulation.

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that helps to keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy, all while helping to make DNA -the genetic material in all of our cells. B12 is essential in preventing megaloblastic anemia which can make people feel both tired and weak.

B12 can be found in fish like mackerel, and in clams and crabs, even eggs. Certain dairy byproducts and fortified soy products also contain B12. Since B12 is not found in any non-fortified, plant-based foods the commonly held belief is that animal-derived foods are the only true source of this essential nutrient.

However, the truth is that no foods - neither animal or plant - naturally contain vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is a microbe produced by microorganisms and is the only vitamin that contains a trace element of cobalt. So basically certain animal meats manage to become a source of B12 because they are simply storing the B12 microbes that the animal consumed.

Although cyanocobalamin is the most commonly used form of vitamin B12 in dietary supplements, it must be converted by enzymes into an active coenzyme form to be useful. Nutritional inadequacies, enzyme defects, and tissue abnormalities can reduce the body’s ability to synthesize the active forms of B12.

In contrast, vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin is a “body-ready” form with metabolic benefits that may not be provided by other forms of vitamin B12. It appears that methylcobalamin may be particularly useful for individuals with impaired methylation capacity, including those with elevated homocysteine or neurological impairments.

Liposomes, which are well known drug delivery vehicles comprised of phospholipids. Phospholipids, because of their hydrophobic (water fearing) and hydrophilic (water loving) nature, form natural spherical structures called liposomes. Drugs or nutrients can be inserted into the center of these liposomes. Because liposomes can be absorbed intact by the human intestine, large, poorly bioavailable molecules carried within the liposomes can more easily be ferried across the gut wall.

These proprietary liposomes utilize a novel method to enhance bioavailability of poorly absorbed compounds. Below is a representative sample of our liposomes compared with a competitor liposome.
